从原理上分析，金属化薄膜电容应不存在短路失效的模式，而金属箔式电容器会出现很多短路失效

的现象。金属化薄膜电容器虽有上述巨大的优点，但与金属箔式电容相比，也有如下两项缺点：

一是容量稳定性不如箔式电容器，这是由于金属化电容在长期工作条件易出现容量丢失以及自愈后

均可导致容量减小，因此如在对容量稳定度要求很高的振荡电路使用，应选用金属箔式电容更好。

另一主要缺点为耐受大电流能力较差，这是由于金属化膜层比金属箔要薄很多，承载大电流能力较

弱。为改善金属化薄膜电容器这一缺点，目前在制造工艺上已有改进的大电流金属化薄膜电容产品

，其主要改善途径有：
用双面金属化薄膜做电极；
增加金属化镀层的厚度；
端面金属焊接工艺改良，降低接触电阻。
