Thesedevices have been optimized for low voltage where transientresponse and minimum input voltage are critical. The 2.85V ver-sionis designed specifically to be used in Active Termina-tors for SCSIbus.On-chip thermallimiting provides protection against any combination of overloadand ambient temperatures that would create excessive  junctiontemperatures.

Unlike PNP typeregulators where up to 10% of the output current is wasted asquiescent current, the quiescent cur-rent of the AMS1117 flows intothe load, increasing effi-ciency.

TheLY1117 seriesregulators are available in the indus-try-standard SOT-223 andTO-252 power packages.
