Freescale is offering a low-cost evaluation kit (MPC830x-KIT) containing a single carrier card and system-on-modules (SOMs) for each of the MPC830x devices, built on Power Architecture® technology. The MPC830x System on Module (SOM) board is optimal cost reference development boards for Freescale's MPC830x processors - the MPC8306, MPC8308 and MPC8309. The SOM provides the flexibility to interface other peripherals on-board by using a carrier card. The Kit contains:

• a MPC8306, MPC8308 or MPC8309 SOM board
• MPC830X carrier card

• Ethernet cable
• Power adaptor (12V – 5A) and cable
• User guide
• Linux® BSP and drivers
